we are…

…Phoebe and Tony, daughter and dad, young and old and living 1500 miles apart. We like to make art and we both sometimes start to dream before we are fully asleep. Below is a family portrait drawn by a young Phoebe and a family photo of fun at the Minnesota State Fair, ca. 2005.

Minnesota State Fair fun for the whole family

Tony grew up in Casselton, North Dakota, going to school and working on the family farm. He later studied art and philosophy at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, and, after meeting his future spouse, moved with her to the Minneapolis area. Tony worked as a picture framer for a dozen years, during which time he met and worked with many artistic people and produced paintings, drawings and collages. He then left that work to raise a family. Graphic design and web design filled some time during the child-rearing years and, after that, he became an online seller of antiques, art and books. He is recently mostly retired and has been able to focus more energy on creative work, including drawing, collage, music and video. He and his wife, Mary, take care of their house and yard and like to travel to places where they can spend time in nature.

Phoebe is currently in a PHD program in plant pathology at UCDavis. She always seems to have creative projects going, including sewing, collage, drawing and painting. She has good friends in many distant places and hopes to move to someplace less sweaty when her graduate studies are done. She regularly joins her family remotely for dinners and events.
